Appointed in 2021, the CEO of TikTok is now a Singaporean entrepreneur called Shou Zi Chew.
Chew initially stepped into the role of CFO at ByteDance, having previously been Chief Financial Officer at Xiaomi – a Chinese designer and manufacturer of software, appliances, electrical goods, and more. He then became CEO of TikTok when his predecessor, Kevin A. Mayer, stepped down after just three months as a result of ByteDance being ordered by Donald Trump’s team to sell the US operations of TikTok.
Who Is Shou Zi Chew?
Chew, TikTok’s current CEO, has worked as an investment banker in the past – and has a degree in Economics from University College London, and a master’s degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.
He is married and has two children and has also been made an honorary chairperson for the Met Gala since 2024, as TikTok is the lead sponsor of the event.
