If Facebook is all about growth, community, and engagement, then why is it that some users find different activities blocked?
It could be that you’re unable to add a comment to a friend’s post, unable to add your own opinion on a public post, or even find that adding a new update of your own is blocked.
Whatever it is you’re trying to do, when Facebook blocks a certain activity, it can be frustrating. Which is why we wanted to create this list of common Facebook issues, so that you can work to identify the cause of the problem and fix it.
Common Reasons Why Users Are Unable to Leave Comments
Your Account Has Been Restricted
If you have violated community guidelines, including posting inappropriate comments and engaging in activity that is regarded as spam, then you may find that your account is restricted.
The duration of these restrictions, and their impact on your activity, will vary depending on the violation and its severity. However, it’s important to note here that you won’t be informed or notified of restrictions; rather, certain activity will simply be blocked.
If this happens, you have no other choice but to wait out the restriction.
Your App Is Outdated
If you tend to browse and engage on Facebook via the app, then it’s important to make sure the version of the app you use is up to date. If not, and if you’re browsing on an outdated version of the app, you will notice certain activities blocked.
To fix this issue, update the version of the app you’re using.
The Privacy Settings on the Post Are Strict
You will not be able to leave a comment on a post that has been locked by the original poster.
By this we mean that, if the original poster locks the comments section of the post, then you will be unable to add your own text. There is no fix for this – rather, it is simply the preference of the poster.
Poor Internet Connection
This one is simple. If your internet connection is not strong enough to facilitate comment posting, then your comment will not successfully upload. To counter this, try a different internet connection or wait until you are somewhere with a stronger signal.
Your Comment Is Waiting Approval
There are some instances where the comment will seem like it has been posted or uploaded, but in reality, is awaiting approval.
This happens when the original poster requires comments to be approved before they’re posted and can also happen when sharing a comment in a group or on a page. If you think you’ve posted a comment, but you can’t yet see it on the post, then be patient and see if it is approved.
How to Make Sure Your Comments Always Post Successfully
There are several reasons why comments may not appear after you’ve hit the ‘Share’ button. While some are out of your control, for example if the poster has blocked comments or has to approve comments before they appear, there are things that you can do to protect your posting rights on Facebook.
As a general rule, taking care to follow Facebook’s community guidelines and avoid any violations is crucial to keeping your account and activity unlocked.
We hope this helps!
