Facebook reels are a popular form of content for creators and users who want to generate high engagement. Not only is the format of a reel super short and shareable, but the reliance on and spread of trending audio clips and layouts makes it really easy for users to help their content get picked up and seen by a wider audience.

Of course, what this means is that every like, share, and comment counts. So, what do you do when the comments suddenly stop appearing on your latest Facebook reel? Is there something wrong with your app? Let’s take a closer look…

Common Reasons Behind Comments Not Appearing on Your Reel

There are several reasons why comments might not show up under your latest Facebook reel.

You’ve Disabled Comments

Did you know that your Facebook settings give you the power to switch comments off, block users from sharing your post, and lots of other tools and edits?

If you have changed the settings on your reel to disable comments, then it may be that friends and other users are not able to interact with your reel. Turn this off via your Settings, click on the option labelled ‘Followers and Public Content’ to change who can comment on your reels.

You’ve Limited Visibility of Your Reel

In your Settings, you will also find a section dedicated to Reel visibility. If you have limited the visibility of your Reel to ‘Friends Only’, you prevent the spread of your reel from stretching beyond your immediate network.

While you will still see comments from your friends who are able to the view the content, this means you cannot benefit from a broader audience.

Your Connection Is Poor

This is arguably the most common reason behind any issue on Facebook. As an online platform, Facebook relies on a strong and consistent internet connection for any of its tools and features to work properly – and when the connection is bad, so is your browsing experience.

To fix this, wait until you are within a Wifi zone before trying to access comments on your reels, or switch your internet off and on again to reset it.

You Need to Clear Your Cache

Your Facebook cache stores information and data from your browsing behaviour, allowing your app to load more quickly when accessing pages that you’ve previously viewed or interacted with.

However, it needs clearing regularly – and when you don’t clear it regularly, it can start to impact the speed at which your app loads and displays information. Issues can include not displaying comments effectively and not being able to respond to comments.

Update Your App!

Facebook is always rolling out new app updates for its users, and while staying on top of every update is not necessary, getting too far behind can leave you with an outdated and unsupported version of Facebook.

An outdated app can bring with is a plethora of issues, with comment blocks just one issue you may come across. To ensure you don’t miss out on valuable content from your friends and followers, make sure that you update your app every month or so.

All in all, there are several reasons why comments may not be appearing under your Facebook reel – however, none of them are long lasting issues and all of them can be fixed with a few short clicks. We hope this helps!
