Because Instagram and Facebook are both owned by Meta, they are intrinsically connected on all levels.
From sharing content to connecting the login experience and using one platform to verify your identity on the other, logging in across Facebook and Instagram is incredibly easy.
In this article, we’re sharing how to use your Facebook account to log into and link your Instagram, so that you can share content between the two with ease and ensure a cohesive and well connected experience.
Linking Instagram and Facebook
The best way to see whether your accounts are linked is by heading into your Accounts Centre…
- Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of your Facebook app screen
- Select ‘Settings and Privacy’ then ‘Settings’
- At the top of the menu you will see an Accounts Centre block. Select ‘See More in Accounts Centre’
Once in your Accounts Centre you can first click on ‘Profiles’ to see which Instagram profile is linked with your Facebook account and login and can then go through options like ‘Connected Experiences’ to see how you can use your accounts to support logins and sharing.
Logging Into Instagram Using Facebook
When you select the option labelled ‘Logging in With Accounts’ you access a setting that allows you to either log into Instagram and Facebook together via one of the two platforms or opt for the more advanced setting of tailoring this connected log in by platform.
The default option is to allow all connected accounts to log into each of the different platforms with ease, creating a connected browsing experience and one which lends itself to verification.
Via the Passwords and Security menu option you can also set up two-factor authentication for additional security and find out where you’re logged into both Facebook and Instagram to ensure that you haven’t been hacked.
Having a connected Instagram and Facebook set up which allows you to log into both via each platform creates a more cohesive and simpler user journey.
