Meta is facing concerns over the security of its AI and VR integrations, following an investigation into the connectivity between young users and AI chatbots.

While chatbots undoubtedly have a place in the rollout of enhanced AI features, including VR, the concerns are that such chats are sharing misleading information with minors, including medical advice. Such interactions should be blocked, though the report suggests that no such step has been taken to cease chatbot interactions with minors.

So, what’s the fallout?

What Can Be Done to Protect Minors?

One option is to completely block minors from using chatbots, and to prevent chatbots from being able to interact with younger users.

With AI becoming increasingly sophisticated, this kind of step would mitigate the risk of harmful conversations – though how easy it would be to implement and monitor remains to be seen.

What do you think should be done to protect minors?
