Rumour has it that the USA is considering a new way out of its TikTok ownership cycle: by introducing its own version of the app.

TikTok is actually already in development for a US-only version, which would potentially launch in September 2025. What this would mean, in simple terms, is that ByteDance can retain its ownership over TikTok across all other regions, while still granting the US a version which is controlled internally across the USA as per its requirements.

Will This Affect the User Experience?

There are certainly aspects of TikTok which would change if the US had its own version which was not connected with the TikTok apps of users across the globe. It would shut the US out of TikTok’s overarching algorithm, and would limit visibility of content to those connected to the specific version of the app.

However, for those who rely on the US audience for their business, and who use TikTok as a core platform for engagement and maximising likes and comments, it would mean that TikTok remains a viable marketing tool.

This solution is currently running in tandem with President Trump’s promised wealthy buyer. The outcome remains to be seen, though we will continue reporting!
