Meta has announced that its platforms, including Instagram, will rely more on AI for moderation and other backend processes – automating and streamlining the ways in which content is assessed and approved.
At present, human moderators are used to look out for flagged content and to assess posts which are reported by other users. The move to embrace more AI bots will reduce Meta’s reliance on third-party suppliers who manage the moderation of content and will give platforms more control over their own systems.
But what does this mean for jobs at Meta?
The Impact of Increased AI on Human Roles
Meta has, in tandem with this announcement, stated that it will be reducing its human workforce by around 20%.
While the hope for content creators and users is that AI bots will be much quicker to identify, flag and move illicit and inappropriate content, the impact on jobs is going to be huge.
Other AI Integrations Across Meta
As well as the content moderation, AI investment is also being increased across Meta’s support systems – with bots being embedded with information to help users work through common issues.
If you’re a creator who uses Instagram for increased online visibility and growth, a more reliable AI function and support assistant should make it easier to solve issues and get back to regular posting – with as little interruption as possible.
