TikTok is known for having an extensive library of effects, which are designed to enhance video footage and make even the simplest of videos more entertaining.
While some effects quickly become trends, others are unique – with the ever-growing library of options giving creators countless new effects to try out and experiment with.
Here’s how to search and browse through the different effects and add them to your next TikTok video.
3 Steps to Search Effects
- Open the TikTok app on your device and click on the large white button with the plus sign, in the bottom centre of your screen
- To the left hand side of the large circular button, select ‘Effects’
- The menu will default to the ‘Trending’ effects – those that are most popular at the time of your search. Alternatively, you can browse through the ‘New’ effects, ‘Interactive’ effects, ‘Green Screen’ effects and more – or search for something specific by clicking on the magnifying glass search icon
TOP TIP: When searching for specific effects using the magnifying glass icon, be specific with what you want to find. For example, typing ‘Cat’ will bring up tons of options whereas ‘Funny Cat Face’ brings up a more specific filter effect
Once you’ve found the effect you want to try out and use, simply tap on it and watch the screen – and your face on the screen – transform as per the chosen effect.
Click on the white button at the bottom of the screen to capture your video or image using that effect – and voila! You’re ready to post your new TikTok – and set the app on fire with your brand new effect!
