When TikTok suffers a glitch in the system, anything can happen – from videos that won’t upload to comments that won’t save and videos that play out of sync (or not at all!)
The reason behind TikTok’s glitching depends on what’s going on with the app, and whether it’s an issue connected to your phone and connection, or the entire platform.
In this article we’re sharing just a few of the common glitches, the causes behind these TikTok glitches, and how you can try and remedy them.
Video Upload Failure
One of the most common glitches that users experience, and report is a failure to upload videos properly.
This can be caused by a lack of internet connection when trying to upload the video, or an issue within the platform’s upload system.
Either way, if you experience this issue then the best thing to try first is closing and reopening the app – being sure to save your post as a draft before you exit the app, to ensure you don’t lose all your hard work.
Audio Sync Failure
Another glitch that many users report is a discrepancy between the audio playback on a video, and what’s happening on the screen. This can be incredibly frustrating when watching a TikTok, as the audio does not match the visual.
Again, this can be affected and caused by a poor internet connection – though it is just as likely to be caused by poor sound quality in the video itself. To ensure this does not become an issue, take care to upload videos in areas of high connectivity, and check the sound and visual quality of your videos before uploading.
Black Screen of Doom!
Ever heard of the black screen of doom?
In a similar vein to the old blue screen of death that desktop computers displayed when they were close to dying, one of TikTok’s most common glitches is the presentation of a black screen rather than the video that’s been selected.
Generally this is caused by a glitch at TikTok HQ – and requires you to close the app and reopen it (again, taking care to save your post as a draft, if the glitch has occurred while uploading a new video).
Are You Using an Updated Version of the App?
If you experience any kind of glitch, from any of those listed above to one which is linked to the browsing experience, issues with comments loading, or an error in direct messaging, one thing to check is the version of the TikTok app that you are using.
As a popular social media platform, TikTok is constantly being updated by its engineers and experts behind the scenes – pushing some features aside in favour of new ideas and tools. Sometimes, certain features will cease working properly, which is why it’s important to always make sure you’re using the most up to date version of the app, to optimise your experience.
We hope this helps! TikTok glitches are always annoying when you have to deal with them – but there is almost always something that you can do to help fix the problem!
