With the future of TikTok in the US under increasing uncertainty, Instagram is positioning itself to take over as the most prolific app for music discovery.
How? By giving users a new way of using music to portray their mood or emotions.
Instagram’s Latest Updates and Changes
Music looks set to play a bigger role on Instagram, with the arrival of Spotify integrations and direct shades. Sharing songs direct from Spotify will allow Instagram users to share their mood and thoughts through audio tracks and invite friends and followers to share their own trending songs.
By putting music front and centre of Instagram’s latest update, it’s fair to say that the app is primed to become the latest music discovery platform – well placed to take over from TikTok should the ban go ahead.
Another new update from Instagram sees users given more control over the presentation of their profile, by enabling them to filter and determine which posts appear at the top and forefront of their profile.
Beig able to rearrange the profile grid means users can finetune the look and aesthetic of their profile – something that creators in particular will hope to use to drive more engagement, views and followers.
