Before we dive into the how-to content of this article, we first need to uncover a few key terms.

OBS stands for Open Broadcaster Software and is a broadcasting platform that makes it easier for creators and users to share direct to TikTok using a PC device. It is an app that allows for cross-platform posting and streaming, that supports the management of the entire streaming experience from one screen.

It tends to be popular with gamers and those who want to live stream to several platforms or accounts at the same time, and for those who want to stream their screen activity on TikTok.

Here’s how to stream direct from OBS to TikTok.

3 Steps to Stream to TikTok

1. To get started, you first need to build your OBS account. This can be done by downloading and installing the app on your PC device

2. Once you have an OBS account (and assuming you already have a TikTok profile), you need to connect the two. This requires an RTMP key and a streaming key – both of which are specific to your profile and login and must be entered in the Custom Streaming Server settings on OBS

NOTE: To find the RTMP key and the streaming key, head into TikTok Live settings and select ‘Cast to PC’. This will generate the two relevant keys that you need to enter in OBS to connect the two platforms

3. Once the streaming and RTMP keys are entered in OBS and your accounts are connected, you simply need to click ‘Start Streaming’ on the OBS platform, and you will open a live stream on TikTok. And voila!

Once you’ve got everything in place, you can add effects like your chosen caption and any backdrop to the stream. From there, the engagement and audience participation is all in your hands!
