Meta Announces a New Place in Its Strategy for AI

Regardless of your stance on AI, you can’t ignore its impact across the world of social media.

This week, Meta has announced the ever-expanding role of AI across its platforms including Instagram. AI-powered systems will now be used for more ad targeting as well as risk assessing the platforms, replacing the need for inhouse teams whose roles were previously to determine the impact of new features on users.

And that’s not all. Meta is also using AI to bolster the platforms’ ability to moderate content, remove violations, and enforce community and posting rules.

What Does the Use of AI Mean for Instagrammers?

Meta claims that the impact of these changes and the increasing use of AI will create a smoother experience for users. The company anticipates a 50% reduction in moderation and enforcement errors, which is good news for users who need to consistently entertain their growing pool of followers.

Having said that, Meta is not moving 100% away from its inhouse team.

Human checks will still be needed to ensure the technology remains on track, particularly where rules and user policies are concerned, protecting users’ rights and privacy.
