TikTok Creators Can Exchange Actions for Donations

The latest development for TikTok creators is the rollout of donations, earned through TikTok Live streams in exchange for specific actions. 

This essentially empowers followers to make requests of their favourite creators, with the creators able to filter reactions and view these requests – performing them in exchange for specific donations. 

For example, a creator might offer to say a personal hello during a live stream, to a follower, in exchange for a rose, or a heart. This can then be cashed in once donations reach a certain level – as part of TikTok’s monetisation strategy.

Are There Measures in Place to Prevent Explicit Asks?

With live stream content, especially that which can be requested by followers, there is always a risk of indecent requests.

However, TikTok is maintaining its ban on body exposure and sexualised content, with reporting measures in place to protect creators. 

And for creators, the opportunities to grow their following and engagement stats are broad. By offering actions in exchange for set donations, creators can interact more with their followers and learn what they want to see – separating purchased likes and comments from real interactions.
