TikTok has made it possible for creators to assign their own keywords as part of the metadata behind their clips and posts – giving them more control over how their content is discovered.

This update is great news for those creators who have been struggling to appear on the recommended content streams for specific topics, giving them a way to align their content more definitively and specifically with certain topics.

While TikTok will still, as a platform, be able to view and amend these tags if they are not deemed relevant, creators will have more say over what keywords are and are not associated with their clips.

So, what does this mean for discovery?

How TikTok Keywords Build Visibility

Whether creators rely solely on organic reach and discovery or bridge this natural approach to growth with tailored lists of purchased followers and engagement stats, the inclusion of specific and selected keywords will only serve to boost visibility.

Which means that now is the perfect time to do a deep dive into your target audience, find out what they are searching for on TikTok, and how best to align your content and metadata keywords with their tailored searches!
