Calling all UK TikTok users; if you love discovering new content but hate the constant stream of targeted ads that flood your feed, then this update is for you. 

TikTok has rolled out a new update that allows users in the UK to pay for ad-free scrolling, via a subscription service. This paid service essentially restricts the app from being able to track user data, cutting its access to their interests at the source – leaving behind the content that a user chooses to see, and that which is funnelled to them through paid follower packages

Who Does This Update Benefit?

TikTok claims that this update is designed to empower UK users and give them more control over what they see in their feed and how much of their personal search data and information is able to be accessed.

However, it appears just as likely that this update is a response to stricter data regulations in and across the UK – that TikTok has to adhere to.

Either way, for users this upgrade will improve their TikTok browsing experience and reduce the number of ads they see – which may in turn boost their engagement, time spent on the app, and overall enjoyment. And that can only be a win for creators!
