How to Get Three Minute Songs on TikTok

Is there a specific song that you want to use on your TikTok video, that’s longer than the classic 15 second clip from many popular soundtracks and tunes?

While creating a full length video is relatively easy on TikTok, with the different options starting at 15 seconds and ranging right up to 10 minutes, finding a song that lasts for three minutes or more – and is free to be used on TikTok – is slightly more challenging.

3 Steps to Find a Three Minute Song

1. Create your video as usual or upload the video that you want to share on TikTok, using the large circle button in the centre along the bottom of your home screen
2. Once the video is uploaded and ready to be edited and refined, TikTok will often recommend a sound or a song to accompany the footage. You can stick with this option or click on ‘Add Sound’ to do a little additional research of your own
3. Clicking on the magnifying glass icon on the song search screen will invite you to narrow your search according to songs you like or specific artists. To find longer songs and those that could cover a video of upwards of three minutes in length, select the filter button during your search and opt for ‘Longest’ under Video Duration

With this filter activated, your search will be refined by those available songs that are free to be used on TikTok, and which are longer.

If you can’t find a suitable song, you can stitch different audio clips together using a more sophisticated editing process within the app – or you can break your video down into smaller chunks of content that all use different but popular tunes.
