President Trump has once again stepped in and prolonged the lifespan of TikTok in the US, by extending the deadline for the app to find a US buyer.
This marks the fourth extension granted by Trump and carries the deadline up to the middle of December 2025. It is being reported that a buyer is imminent but that the details still need to be confirmed.
Is TikTok Still Legal in the United States?
To clarify, TikTok is technically banned by law in the United States – and has been since January. Trump’s intervention merely puts pause on the law being enforced, with the president hoping to find a United States buyer that will meet the terms of a new ownership agreement.
So no, TikTok is not technically legal – but until the enforcement notice is given, this doesn’t really change anything for users!
