Marketplace is one of Facebook’s most popular modern features, allowing users to list and sell items that they no longer want – either completing transactions online ahead of delivery, or listing items that can be paid for with cash on collection.
The flexibility of Marketplace as a selling app makes it incredibly easy for users to sell and buy things with ease – using their location as one of the key filters in finding items that fit the bill and are easy enough to access and pick up.
Of course, this means that your location as both a buyer and as a seller needs to be kept up to date – otherwise you risk misleading other users and ruining a purchase or sale.
Without further ado, here’s a quick guide to the process of changing your location in the Marketplace feature menu.
Changing Location as a Buyer
When you click on the Marketplace tab, you will find that your location creates a filter for the very first items that you see listed on Marketplace as a prospective buyer.
These items are based on the location that you have programmed into your Marketplace profile, expanding out to the maximum catchment area specified around your exact location.
Beneath these items are those marked as being ‘Further Afield’ – branching into other nearby towns and cities, especially when searching for specific items.
Luckily, changing your location as a buyer is incredibly easy.
- Tap on the blue location link at the top of the grid of items for sale
- Search for a location in the bar at the top to set a new search location
- Adjust the local radius using the bar below
- Click on ‘Apply’ to change your location and product filter
Changing Location as a Seller
If you are selling someone that is located somewhere other than when you are usually based, then it’s important to update your seller location accordingly.
In the ‘Create Listing’ page, a ‘Location’ heading invites you to edit the area where the product is located. This ensures that your product listing is seen by buyers in the right catchment area, and that you are able to provide accurate information for collection.
Setting the location is easy, either by searching for the correct spot or using the map to pinpoint where you are.
