There are varying degrees of removal you can take, should you want to remove Facebook from your life and from your device.

From temporarily deactivating your profile, to permanently deleting it, the way you remove yourself from Facebook will depend on your personal preference with regards to being able to join the platform again when you’re ready.

Of course, if you want to remove all trace of Facebook from a device, you need to take a step beyond simply closing your account – uninstalling it as well. It’s important to note here that uninstalling the app alone will only remove the app from your device and will not deactivate or delete your account.

If you are replacing your device and want to remove your Facebook app from an old device then you’re in the right place. However, if you want to delete your account, you will need to follow a different process, outlined in another article.

3 Steps to Uninstall Facebook

To uninstall Facebook, you don’t even need to be logged in or have the Facebook app open. In fact, the easiest way to uninstall the app is to navigate to your app menu on your device.

  1. On your device home screen, find the Facebook app button
  2. Press and hold on the app button until a pop up menu appears
  3. Select ‘Remove App’

Alternatively, you can remove or uninstall the app via the App Store on your device.

Either way, following these steps will remove all trace of Facebook from your device (unless, of course, you choose to browse via a web browser instead). And should you decide to make a return to Facebook and start posting again, you can always reinstall the app and reopen your account with ease, in just a few clicks.
