The introduction of pinned posts on Facebook gives users, page managers, business owners, and group admin an opportunity to pin an important post to the top of the feed and ensure it is always the first post or update that a user sees when they visit the account or page.
A pinned post can be anything and is often packed with useful information relating to the business, to the private user’s own life and milestones, or another notable announcement.
But how do you pin a post – and perhaps more importantly, how do you unpin a post that is no longer relevant?
3 Steps to Pin a Post
The title of this article may be geared towards unpinning and removing a post from the pinned position at the top of your feed, but in order to have a post that needs unpinning you first need to know how to get it there.
- Head to your profile, page, or the group that you are admin for
- Find the post that you want to pin to the top of your profile or feed
- Click on the three dots in the top right hand corner of the post and select ‘Pin Post’ from the top of the menu
Once a post has been pinned, you will see a pin icon and the heading ‘Pinned Post’ just above it on your feed.
3 Steps to Unpin a Post
You won’t be surprised to learn that the process to unpin a post is much the same as the process to pin one.
- Navigate to your profile or page feed and find the pinned post
- Click on the three dots icon in the top right hand corner of the post
- Select ‘Unpin Post’ from the pop up menu
Once a post has been unpinned, it will move back to its position in the chronological order of your feed, be it on your private profile or the page that you manage. Unless it remains the most recent post to have been shared, it will no longer be at the top of the feed.
We hope this not only helps you understand how to unpin a post, but also recognise the value in a pinned post and why users choose to pin posts to the top of their page or profile.
