What Does DM Mean on Facebook?

If you’re a regular user on social media, then you will probably have seen the acronym ‘DM’ being thrown around.

Well, it turns out that DM means the same on Facebook as it does pretty much everywhere else.

DM = Direct Message.

When someone posts a comment that says, ‘DM me’ or ‘I’ll DM you’, they are essentially saying that they will or want to take the conversation away from the public post and into a private chat with the other user.

On Facebook, when someone uses the term DM, they actually mean to take the conversation off the Facebook app completely and instead turn to the Messenger app. On a desktop device however, these are one and the same thing as Messenger remains an integrated part of Facebook on a web browser.

We hope that all of this helps you to stay ahead of the curve and on top of Facebook trends, understanding completely what other users are talking about when they request or indicate that they will send a DM. Happy DM’ing!
