How many times have you browsed your own profile, taking a deep dive into old Facebook albums and tagged photos to remind yourself of past memories and days gone by?
Facebook is undoubtedly a great place to store photos; not just your own but those uploaded by friends and other users. From the tagged photos album on your profile to those photos that you have uploaded yourself, flicking through old memories with friends is one of the great things about Facebook.
But while uploading photos on Facebook is a great way to share those memories, in some cases it may not be the most secure place to store your images. Why? Because there are several instances where Facebook is known to delete or remove photos – sometimes as a result of their imagery and origin, and sometimes through technical fault.
Reasons Why Facebook May Delete Photos
There are several reasons why Facebook may remove photos that you have uploaded to your profile.
The Images Violate Community Guidelines
In order to ensure that Facebook remains a safe and enjoyable platform for users to browse, there are tons of community guidelines in place relating to user behaviour, content, and interaction.
If the images you have shared are found to be in violation of any terms and conditions of Facebook use, they will be removed.
Images Have Been Reported
Following on from the above point, if another Facebook user reports your image and it gets picked up by moderators who agree with their issue, then the photo or photos may be removed from your profile.
The Images Break Copyright Regulations
Copyright is a big issue across the Meta-sphere, with lots of regulations in place to ensure that original creators and posters are always acknowledged when content is shared.
If you upload an image which is found to be in violation of copyright laws, either because it has been taken from another creator and passed off as your own, or because it comes from an industry that’s protected by copyright, your content will be removed.
This is also true of videos that are uploaded, that use songs which are protected by copyright laws. There’s a reason why the Reels creator tool offers specific songs when creating new content, and it’s because these songs can legally be shared on social media reels and content. Taking a song which Facebook doesn’t have the rights to use is a breach of copyright.
A Technical Issue
This is arguably the most annoying issue with Facebook photos, because it is something that you have no control over.
If a technical issue gets in the way of a Facebook photo upload or impacts photos that you have already shared to the platform, then you may find that photos disappear with no warning.
How to Overcome These Issues
The biggest pieces of advice we can share are these:
- Only upload and share content that meets community and user guidelines, and that has been approved by other users who may be pictured in the images
- Upload photos when you have good signal
- Always make sure that you are using the latest version of the app before uploading photos
Following these tips should ensure that your photos are Facebook-approved and will be safely uploaded to your platform – creating memories that will last a lifetime!
Happy posting!
