A Facebook post is anything you add which appears on your profile feed and in the news feeds of your friends and followers.
It could be a purely text-based post, a location check-in, or it could have photos and images attached to it. Whatever it is, a post is designed to provide an update to friends, and to give you an outlet to share your thoughts or experiences with loved ones.
But what do you do when you come across a post, shared by yourself, that you want to delete? Or perhaps a post that you shared prematurely and want to replace with something better?
That’s where the Facebook post deleting process comes in.
3 Steps to Delete a Single Post
- Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of your Facebook app screen, indicated by a small circular version of your profile picture. Then tap your name to open your profile page
- Scroll down to Your Posts / your profile feed
- Find the post that you want to delete and tap on the three dots in the top right hand corner of the post. Select ‘Move to Bin’ from the pop up menu of options
Once you have selected the Bin option, your post will disappear from your feed.
How to Delete Posts in Bulk
If you’re looking to delete a large selection of posts that you’ve shared, you can find many of them in your Facebook Activity Log – and take steps to delete them from there.
To find your Activity Log, head to your Facebook profile as above and click on the button with the three dots, located underneath your profile picture.
Select ‘Activity Log’ from the menu that appears.
A carousel of activity options lets you filter the activity you want to view – for example, ‘Public Posts’ which include all activity and posts you’ve shared with the public on Facebook. To delete these posts on mass, simply click in the selection button to the left of the post and select ‘Recycle Bin’.
This will delete all selected posts. Alternatively, you can send them to ‘Archive’ so they are not visible but still exist somewhere in Facebook.
We hope this helps – whether you want to delete a single post or a series of posts.
