With so many users on Facebook from all walks of life, age groups, and demographics, it’s little wonder why more and more recruiters turned to Facebook to advertise and market job vacancies during the Covid-19 pandemic.

While official job posting ceased in 2023, with the Jobs on Facebook feature now removed from the app, there are still ways of marketing a job through Facebook – reaching wider audiences and tapping into the benefit of local community groups and pages.

Undoubtedly the easiest way to advertise a job listing is to share a link directly on your Facebook.

If you are hiring someone new at your business, or you want to help your workplace by sharing a job vacancy among your own network and friends, then copying the link from a recruitment website and posting it on Facebook is quick and easy.

If you’ve got a local job vacancy that you need to fill, posting the vacancy and some more information on local community groups is a quick and easy way to get the opportunity in front of the right audience.

You can invite followers of the page to message you for more information or share extra details in the comments. Whatever you choose to do, community groups are often full of local job opportunities alongside updates and queries from residents.

Using the ‘looking For…’ Status Feature

When you update your Facebook status or post something for your followers to see, Facebook now invites you to add a Feeling or Activity.

One of the Activities that you can add to your status is ‘Looking For…’ – a great starting point if you are hiring or helping your workplace or a local business to advertise a job listing.

Once you click on ‘Looking For…’, scrolling down will open a plethora of options. One of the best to use is ‘A Full Time Employee’, or you can be even more specific by naming the profession directly.

All of these options will enable you to get a job opportunity or vacancy out there on Facebook. Making sure that any links and posts that you share are public, will enable friends to share the post for themselves and widen your search even further. Invite friends to tag their own connections in the comments, and make sure to look for and respond to both comments and direct messages relating to the job.

We hope this helps – happy hiring!
