An archived post is one from your own profile that you decide to hide. It falls somewhere between deleting a post completely and leaving it on your profile – hiding it from the view of followers and other users, but without removing its caption and engagement stats completely.

There are many reasons why you might decide to archive a post – and a fair few reasons why you might want to unarchive or find it again.

In this article, we’re sharing the steps to see your archived posts.

What Happens When You Archive a Post?

When you archive a post on your profile, the post is removed from your grid view. This means that other Instagram users cannot see the post.

3 Steps to See Archived Posts

  1. Head to your profile page and click on the menu button in the top right hand corner

  2. Select ‘Archive’

  3. This opens a screen with any posts that you have previously archived

Once you’re in your archive folder, you can view the different posts and see what kind of engagement they got – plus, you can quickly and easily restore them to your profile grid for your followers to see.

Clicking on the ‘Posts Archive’ heading at the top of the page will give you a dropdown menu, enabling you to see archived Stories and Live posts. Your archived stories are particularly interesting as this is where you can find every single story that you have shared on your profile in the past – along with the date it was shared on.

So, whether you want to visit old stories or hide specific posts from your profile grid for the time being, the Archive feature is one which makes controlling your Instagram presence even easier. For more information and advice like this, look out for our upcoming articles!
