Have you recently shared a post on Facebook, only to find that you missed a crucial detail or spelt something wrong in the caption?
If so, then this article is for you.
Editing a post is quick and easy and can allow you to fix any small issues within the imagery or the copy of your update. Here’s how to do it…
3 Steps to Edit a Post
- Head to your profile feed via the menu button in the right hand corner of your screen, or find your post on the main Facebook page feed
- Click on the three dots icon in the top right hand corner of your post
- Select ‘Edit Post’
Once you’re in the editing screen, you can change the text and caption of your post, add more photos, and more.
How and Why You Might Edit the Privacy of a Post
It’s not just the copy and creative side of a post that you might decide to edit.
Every post that you share on Facebook can be made public or private – either restricting visibility to just your friends, to friends excepting certain individuals, to specific friends, or solely to you.
If you share a post and set it to public, only to find that the content is sensitive and you want to restrict it after posting, you can edit it by selecting the three dots in the top right hand corner of the post and clicking on ‘Edit Privacy’.
Once the change has been made, the visibility of your post will change to reflect the privacy setting.
We hope this helps! The ‘Edit Post’ feature is one of the simplest but most valuable rollouts created by Facebook, giving users the power to change details around their post without having to delete it and start again. If you ask any creator, they will tell you how valuable this is in terms of protecting rather than losing engagement!
