Have you uploaded a picture to Facebook, only to find it looks blurry on your screen and to others?

If this is the case then it could be something to do with the original image, or there could be something going on behind the scenes which has affected the quality of the picture.

To help answer your concerns, we’ve compiled a list of the most common reasons why Facebook pictures may appear blurry after being uploaded.

The Original Image Is Blurry

By far the simplest explanation for a blurry Facebook image is a blurry photo that was taken when the camera was moving, or when the zoom was a touch too magnified.

If the original image that you are trying to upload is blurry, then every platform you upload it to will display a blurry and out of focus image.

You’ve Cropped It Too Much

Another common reason behind a blurry Facebook image is that you have cropped it too much.

When you crop a photo, you force the platform to zoom directly into that section of the photo. When the section you crop your image down to is too small, the resulting image appears blurry.

The Format Is Incorrect and Facebook Has Resized the Image

Facebook displays specific images in certain sizes and formats. For example, notice how profile photos are always circular, while cover photos are always long and thin. If you upload a photo which doesn’t meet the format specifications, then Facebook will resize it to fit the template.

This can alter the layout of the picture, its size, and how high its quality.

Data Saver Mode Is On

Did you know that having your device in data saving mode reduces the resolution of images that you upload and download?

When adding pictures to Facebook or savings photos that have been shared with you, we recommend turning data saver mode off to optimise the quality of the image.

Can You Fix a Blurry Photo?

If you upload a blurry photo to Facebook, then the only way to fix it is by deleting the photo or post and uploading it again.

However, if the quality of the photo is fine on other devices, it could be that you are lacking in signal or have your device set to save data – and therefore reduce the resolution of images you open and save.

We hope the above helps, sharing just a few reasons why photos may be blurry – and some things you can do to try and fix the problem.
