More and more businesses are using Facebook as a platform for growth and visibility, relying on customers and clients to help widen their audience through reviews, check-ins, shares, and general content interaction.
If you have had a good experience with a business and you want to help them grow, one of the best things that you can do is tag their page – sharing it directly with your own followers and community, while also sharing some positive words about that business.
Of course, you might follow the same pattern if you have something negative to say or a warning to share with your Facebook community – however, for the most part we like to see positive experiences only on social media!
The Benefits of Tagging a Business
Before we share the process of tagging a business on Facebook, let’s consider a few of the benefits of doing so.
Tagging businesses on Facebook is a great way to support their growth and put their business name in front of a larger audience. When you tag a business, a clickable link to their page is shared with all your followers and friends – and when paired with a positive review, this can help drive engagement and increase the page’s following.
For creators and budding influencers who want to start monetising their content, tagging businesses is also a good place to start when seeking attention from those businesses. They will see your posts and start connecting and associating your page with positive brand marketing and awareness building.
Finally, tagging businesses on Facebook can help to enhance the value of the post in the eyes of Facebook. A post that contains tags and relevant, valuable information is more likely to be shared with a larger audience. This again promotes good visibility both for the business that’s tagged and for the original poster.
3 Steps to Tag a Business in a Facebook Post
- Click on the ‘What’s on Your Mind’ box at the top of your feed to start a new post
- When you’re ready to tag the business, type ‘@’ and then the business name. A list of potential businesses pages will appear – you need to select the right one to ensure that you successfully link the business page with your post. Simply typing a name is not enough!
- Add additional text to add context, any images and extra details, and then hit ‘Publish’
You can also tag a business in the comments under one of your posts or in someone else’s post (for example, if they ask for recommendations), by following the same process and using the ‘@’ symbol to denote a tag.
Or you can tag a business in a photo that you post, for example if the photo was taken at the business premises. To do this, click on the ‘Tag Photo’ icon of your image and search for the business.
Once a business has been tagged in your post, the post will appear on the business page feed and will make their page discoverable to a wider audience. We hope this not only helps but also inspires you to do your bit for local businesses and get tagging, using the power you have as a user to boost their presence on Facebook.
