Mark Zuckerburg is the name we all associate with Facebook in terms of its creation and launch, more than 20 years ago in February 2004.
But is Zuckerburg still the CEO behind the company, or has he handed the reigns to someone else and retained Founder status?
It turns out that Mark Zuckerburg is still the active CEO of Facebook, at the head of all decisions made regarding the platform. Zuckerburg is also the founder and CEO of Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook and other platforms like WhatsApp and Instagram.
Who Else Heads up Facebook?
Zuckerburg controls about 60% of the voting power of Facebook, owing to his majority stakes in the company and the roles that he covers himself.
But he is not alone in the Board of Directors.
Other notable names include:
- Javier Olivan, Chief Operating Officer
- Nick Clegg, President of Global Affairs
- Susan Li, Chief Financial Officer

All of these individuals bring skills and experience that bolster Zuckerburg’s leadership, and ensure that Facebook continues to grow in a way that is sustainable and future proof.
