- To download and save a photo onto your device, you first need to find the photo
If it’s one that you have uploaded, you can find it by heading to your profile page and then selecting the ‘Photos’ heading towards the top of your feed. Photos are sorted by albums you’ve created, with all your own uploads found in the ‘Your Photos’ grid.
If you’re looking for a photo that someone else has uploaded and that you have been tagged in, you can find it by clicking on the ‘Tagged Photos’ album or by navigating to their profile page and finding the photo in their own uploads.
- Open the photo to full screen and then either click on the three dots icon in the top right hand corner or press and hold a finger on the screen
- Select ‘Save Photo’
This will download and save the photo to the device that you are browsing on. It’s as simple as that!
Should I Save or Screenshot the Photo?
If for some reason you don’t see an option to save the photo, you can try one of several other methods to download it onto your device.
One of the most popular is the quick and easy screenshot, although this will require some cropping and editing to optimise its quality and ensure that you don’t have all the caption text and tag icons around the image.
Another option is to select ‘Share’ from the photo options menu and send the photo via email or WhatsApp. From within these other apps and platforms, you may find it easier to download and save the image.
However, where possible, downloading the photo directly from Facebook will result in the best quality image.
