Live video remains one of the most popular forms of content for Facebook users. Not only does it allow users to present themselves authentically, but live video often invites high engagement – one of the main reasons why businesses and content creators alike often choose to go live rather than share pre-recorded footage.
While some users choose to go live in a spur of the moment decision, others plan and market their live stream to optimise viewing figures and engagement.
In this article, we’re looking specifically at the benefits of going live in a Facebook group and how to do it.
Why Go Live in a Facebook Group?
There are countless different types of Facebook group on the platform. Some are community groups that can use live streams to showcase celebrations and occasions, while others are geared towards certain hobbies, industries, or even businesses.
Going live invites all the participants and members of the group to come together, posing questions to the live streamer and communicating in real time.
If you are a business and choose to go live, this presents a great opportunity to invite members of your group and online community to ask questions that you can answer on the spot. If you run a community group, a live stream can show locals what you’re doing and can encourage them to get involved in a local activity.
Whatever your reasoning, going live on a group feed brings your community together. Here’s how to start a live stream in your group.
3 Steps to Go Live in a Facebook Group
- Navigate to your Facebook group
- Click on the ‘Write Something…’ box at the top of the group feed
- Underneath the text box, look for the content block that reads ‘Live Video’. Click on it
In the Live Video screen, you will be invited to add a description that will accompany your video. You can set up a fundraiser alongside your video, add other users to join the live stream remotely, or schedule your live stream for a future time.
Once you’re happy with the details and logistics surrounding your live stream, simply click ‘Go Live’ at the bottom of your screen and your live stream will start!
We hope this helps and inspires you to explore the benefits of live streaming to your community via a group page!
