If you are running more than one Facebook account, perhaps one for your business profile while another is geared towards your personal information, you may decide at some point that you need or want to delete one.

Luckily, the process for deleting or deactivating a second Facebook account is incredibly easy – and will not impact your ability to access your main profile.

The Difference Between Deleting and Deactivating a Second Account

When you delete a Facebook account, the action is permanent and irreversible. While users who opt for the ‘Delete’ button are given a grace period of 30 days in which they can reverse the action, once this 30 days is up their account is deleted and cannot be reinstated.

The deactivation option, on the other hand, is a temporary action. Users can deactivate an account at any time and reinstate it when they choose to.

So, now that we know the difference between deleting an account and deactivating an account, how do you get rid of a second Facebook account that you don’t need?

5 Steps to Delete a Second Facebook Account

  1. Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of your Facebook screen
  2. Select ‘Settings and Privacy’ then ‘Settings’, and head into your Accounts Centre menu
  3. Click on ‘Personal Details’ then ‘Accounts Ownership and Control’
  4. Select the ‘Deactivation or Deletion’ button
  5. Finally, select the account that you want to delete

Remember that deleting the account only gives you a grace period of 30 days before the action is permanent, whereas choosing to deactivate the account gives you time to change your mind if you need or want to.

We hope this helps and shows that there are different options available when it comes to managing more than one account.
