Your cover photo is an integral part of your profile’s layout, adding life and personality to your page – all the while letting people know a bit more about you and your lifestyle.

From landscape scenery pictures to group or family photos, the cover photo that you choose can compliment or completely juxtapose your profile picture. Alternatively, if you are a creator or are choosing a cover photo for a business page, you may decide to dedicate the cover photo to your business branding or website.

Whatever you choose, the cover photo is a wide but relatively short photo that sits at the top of your profile – with your current cover photo visible to any user who visits your page.

Who Can See Your Cover Photo?

If you have changed your cover photo during your Facebook lifespan, then you will likely already know that former cover photos are stored in a dedicated album that you can scroll through.

While old and former cover photos can be hidden from public view, it’s important to know that as soon as you have a current cover photo uploaded to your profile, that particular image is always visible to the public. You cannot set your current cover photo to private view.

The only way to prevent public users and those who you don’t know from seeing your cover photo is to remove and delete it. Which is where the rest of this article comes in…

3 Steps to Delete Your Cover Photo

  1. Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of your Facebook screen and tap on your name to navigate to your profile page
  2. Click on your cover photo at the top of the screen and select ‘See Cover Photo’
  3. Select the three dots icon in the top right of the photo and choose ‘Delete Photo’

You will be asked to confirm the action. Once removed, the cover photo will disappear from your profile.

Without a cover photo, the chances are that your profile will look quite bear – lacking in a big part of the personality and design flair that’s added with the large landscape photo. However, this is the best way to keep your profile as private as possible, especially on a public view setting.

We hope this helps!
