Spotify is one of the most popular apps for streaming music, while Facebook is arguably the most popular and the most commonly used social media platform.

Combined, these two platforms exercise a great deal of power in the virtual world, connecting users and consumers from all over the world.

And an increasing number of users are connecting their cross-platform experiences through a shared login, which enables them to log into and access Spotify without creating a separate password. Instead, these users can open Spotify using their Facebook credentials, thereby reducing the number of individual logins and passwords that they need to remember.

But the benefits of this connectivity can only last so long – with this article detailing the process of disconnecting your Spotify and Facebook accounts.

Unlinking via the Spotify App

The first way to disconnect Spotify and Facebook is via the Spotify app or site.

Make sure that you are logged into Spotify and then head into your settings, via the button next to your account name.

Under the heading titled ‘Social’, select ‘Disconnect From Facebook’.

NOTE: Once Spotify has been disconnected from Facebook, you need to make sure that you have a login and password for Spotify that exists without replicating your Facebook login.

Another way to unlink Spotify and Facebook is via your Facebook settings.

Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of the screen and select ‘Settings and Privacy’ then ‘Settings’. Scroll down to the ‘Your Activity’ section and select ‘Apps and Websites’.

In this menu you will find a list of sites and apps that are linked to Facebook. Select Spotify from this list and disconnect it manually.

Why Keep Separate Passwords and Logins for Different Apps?

It all comes down to increased security.

When you use the same login process for multiple apps and websites, you make it easier for different sites and logins to be hacked. Having different passwords and login processes for different sites makes it much easier to protect your data.

We hope this helps you to not only disconnect Spotify from Facebook but also understand why doing so is important for your personal online security.
