Facebook’s Memories tool is a great way to look back on your Facebook activity and see what you were doing, and what you uploaded, on specific dates in the past.

You can head into the Memories feature on any given day and track your activity back over the years on that same date. This is a particularly interesting comparison tool for those who want to look back on anniversaries, birthdays, and dates of note – as well as comparing seasonal activities and random days in the calendar.

But how do you find the memories tool and what can you do with the past posts that you find?

What Do Facebook Memories Look Like?

Your Facebook memories appear as standard posts, showing the comments and likes that you got on the original post, underneath a heading which reads ‘On This Day X Years Ago’.

Everything that you posted on that same date will appear in chronological order, with the most recent posts at the top and those past posts that were shared years ago pushed further down the page.

You can choose to send these memories to other users directly or share them with the ‘On This Day’ heading to highlight how long ago they were posted.

3 Steps to Find Facebook Memories

Memories on Facebook are easily accessible.

  1. Click on the menu button on your Facebook app, in the bottom right hand corner of the page
  2. From the menu blocks, find ‘Memories’ and click
  3. A feed will not appear which shares all your memories from that same date over the years

NOTE: There may be some days where you haven’t had any past activity, and so there will be no memories to share.

Similarly, there may be some days where Facebook draws your memories directly into your homepage feed, informing you of Friendship anniversaries and other posts of note.

As one of the most popular features on Facebook, Memories are accessible in just a few clicks. We hope this helps to not only unlock this feature for you but also draw attention back to your memories and previous posts. Happy sharing!
