Are you receiving too many friend requests from people who you don’t know or who you have no connection with?

If so, then you may be wondering how best to halt friend requests in their tracks.

While you can’t actually stop friend requests completely, you can limit the requests that are sent to you so that you only receive requests from those users who are friends of your existing friends. This stops and blocks users with no connection to you from attempting to become your friend.

Here’s how to do it…

5 Steps to Limit Friend Requests to Friends of Friends Only

  1. Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of the screen
  2. Select ‘Settings and Privacy’ then ‘Settings’ from the menu
  3. Click on ‘How People Can Find and Contact You’
  4. Under the heading ‘Your Friends’ click on the drop down menu next to the option labelled ‘Who Can Send You Friend Requests?’
  5. Change the option from Everyone to Friends of Friends

Once you have made this change, only those who are Facebook friends with your own existing friends will be able to add you as a friend.

Finding Your Friend Requests on Facebook

Wondering who has already sent you friend requests?

You can find these by heading to your Facebook menu and selecting the ‘Friends’ content block. The default page that you land on will contain a list of all the Friend Requests that you’ve been sent via the platform, inviting you to Confirm or Remove each request individually.

It’s worth noting here that even after you have changed you friend request settings using the above process listed, you will still find old requests that were sent by people who you don’t know before you made the change. You can simply remove these by selecting ‘Remove’ next to each one.

We hope this helps! Facebook is all about building your community with friends – but that doesn’t mean that you can’t control and limit who is able to invite you to become their friend.
