Does anyone remember the Facebook poke?

Well, what would you say if we told you that the Facebook poke is still active?! While it may be hidden in the fabric of the platform and app, the Facebook poke remains a popular way of attracting attention from another user.

In this article, we’re letting you know what the poke means and how to find it.

How to Poke Someone on Facebook

The first thing to note is that you can only poke people who you are friends with on Facebook. More on what it means in a minute though – here’s where to find the feature.

  1. Click on the magnifying glass icon at the top of your app screen on Facebook
  2. Type in ‘Pokes on Facebook’
  3. Click on the ‘Pokes’ option at the top of the results page, next to the blue poke icon

At the top of the Pokes page you will see all those who have poked you.

Underneath you will see a list of all your friends on Facebook, with a blue button to the right hand side of their name that gives you an option to Poke them with one click.

When you poke someone, they will receive a notification.

Why Poke Someone on Facebook?

The Facebook Poke has long been considered a flirtatious action – catching the attention of another user / one of your Facebook friends and letting them know that you are thinking about them.

It can equally, however, be considered as an irritating action and a way to annoy someone.

Or it can be a technique used to catch someone’s attention and remind them to respond to you on Facebook messenger or via another platform. While you cannot send a message alongside your poke, the notification that they receive may remind them that they have forgotten to reply to you.

Happy poking!
