Are you a part of a group on Facebook that you are no longer interested in?
It could be that you don’t agree with the content they share, or it could be that you no longer live in the catchment area or feel that the topic of the group is relevant.
Whatever your reasoning, when you decide you no longer want to be a part of a Facebook group, you might be wondering how to block the group and stop their content from appearing in your feed.
Luckily, the process is easy – and doesn’t actually involve any kind of blocking. Instead, all you need to do is remove yourself from the group.
3 Steps to Remove a Group From Your Facebook Experience
- Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of your screen, then select the magnifying glass ‘Search’ icon
- In the search bar, search for the group you want to remove yourself from
- Underneath the group name, click on the button that reads ‘Joined’
You now have two options, based on how much distance you want to put between yourself and the group.
If you select ‘Unfollow Group’ then you will still be a member of the group but will find that group updates no longer appear in your feed.
If you select ‘Leave Group’ then you will no longer be a part of the group. If the group is closed, then this action means you can’t see any group posts anymore and will have to request to join again if you change your mind.
Therefore, unfollowing the group is a temporary solution while leaving the group completely is permanent. For those looking to “block” a group on Facebook, we suggest leaving the group so you are no longer a part of it.
