One of the great things about Facebook is the way it connects and embeds itself within other apps and areas of your digital life.

The ability to turn phone contacts into Facebook friends is just one way that Facebook supports your journey to a broad online community – with users able to bring their phone contacts into their Facebook sphere in just a few steps…

6 Steps to Upload Phone Contacts to Facebook

  1. Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of your screen
  2. Select ‘Settings and Privacy’ then ‘Settings’
  3. At the top of the Settings menu, click on ‘See More in Accounts Centre’
  4. Click on ‘Your Information and Permissions’
  5. Select ‘Upload Contacts’ then choose your Facebook profile from the list of connected profiles that appear
  6. Switch on the toggle then select ‘Continue’. A pop up will appear that asks you to confirm permission for Facebook to access your contacts

Once you have confirmed and activated this toggle, Facebook will work on turning your phone contacts into suggested friends for your Facebook profile.

Finding Other Contacts on Facebook

If you have other friends and contacts who you want to find on Facebook, but you don’t have their phone number saved in your device, then you can try searching for them directly.

Alternatively, you can access tools and areas of Facebook like the ‘People You May Know’ carousel and ‘Suggested Friends’ list. These features all lean on information from your mutual friends, from your location, and from the kinds of things that you do and engage with on Facebook.

With the social platform built on connectivity and establishing communities between users, Facebook offers a range of ways to find contacts and people who you may know and want to be friends with. All you need to do is unlock the tools given to you and start adding friends!
