You might think that you want to be kept in the loop about what’s going on across Facebook, both when you’re using the platform and when you’re not. After all, there’s nothing worse than missing an announcement or a message from a friend, right?

While Facebook updates and notifications are designed to ensure you don’t miss anything, users often find that the plethora of outlets for these notifications can become a little overwhelming. For many, regular emails are a step too far.

Which is why being able to adjust your notification settings is such a valuable feature of the platform.

Here’s how to stop email notifications from Facebook and help clear your inbox of unwanted social updates.

3 Steps to Turn off Email Notifications

  1. Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of your Facebook screen
  2. Select ‘Settings and Privacy’ then ‘Settings’
  3. Click on ‘Notifications’

The Notifications menu boasts an extensive list of Facebook actions that can all be tailored to your chosen preferences and settings. Clicking into each will invite you to switch Email (as well as Push and SMS) notifications on and off, so that you only receive the updates you really want.

Can You Switch off All Emails?

If you want to switch off all of your email notifications from Facebook, you can do so by simply clicking the ‘Unsubscribe’ button at the bottom of one of the email updates you receive.

And voila! These quick and easy processes enable you to tailor your Facebook experience, and control how and where you receive updates both within and outside of the app.
