There are a couple of different ways of getting your reels on Facebook – depending on whether you have created them on a different platform and want to upload them for your Facebook audience to enjoy or want to create the reel from scratch in Facebook.
How to Upload an Existing Reel
Uploading a reel that you have created and saved from another creative platform can be done as a straightforward video file, or by uploading the video file into a new reel on Facebook.
The former is ideal if the reel is ready to go and be shared, while the latter allows you to stitch more content onto your existing reel and ensure that the audio and other details are finetuned for a Facebook audience before sharing.
Things to Consider
The main things you need to think about when uploading an existing reel, perhaps that you made on Instagram, are audio and sound, and also the audience.
Often a reel which is made on Instagram cannot be downloaded onto your device with the sound. When downloaded and saved, Instagram removes the sound that you added to your reel, as part of its licensing. So, when you come to reupload it on Facebook, you will need to find a new sound file on Facebook to add.
Alternatively, you can share from Instagram to Facebook via the Share button over on your Instagram app. This will not allow you to change anything about the reel but is an easy way to share quickly.
This brings us onto the other thing you need to consider, which is audience. Instagram and Facebook typically attract different audiences and user demographics, so take care to ensure your reel is suitable for a Facebook audience before sharing.
Creating a New Reel on Facebook
The process of creating a reel on Facebook starts by tapping on the large plus sign icon along the top of your homepage screen. Select ‘Reel’ to build a new clip, and then start layering your videos and audio files into the reel for editing and perfecting.
Once your reel is complete, uploading it couldn’t be easier – adding a caption and tags for extra engagement.
