If you want to keep your Facebook Messenger inbox clear, then knowing how to delete individual messages and entire conversations is important.
In this article, we’re sharing a quick guide on how to delete both single messages and conversations in just a few steps – allowing you to unsend inaccurate messages and rid your inbox of conversations you no longer want to see.
3 Steps to Delete Full Messenger Conversations
- Navigate to your Facebook Messenger app
- Find the conversation that you want to delete, then press and hold on the conversation (staying in your ‘Chats’ full inbox view)
- Select ‘Delete’ from the pop up menu that appears
This will remove the conversation from your inbox. If you want to hide the conversation without losing all your messages, you can do so by selecting ‘Archive’ rather than ‘Delete’.
3 Steps to Delete an Individual Message
- Again, navigate to your Facebook Messenger app and click on the conversation that contains a message you want to delete
- Press and hold on the message that you want to delete
- Select ‘Unsend’ from the pop up menu that appears. This will open an option to Unsend for everyone or just for you. Selecting ‘Unsend for Everyone’ is the same as deleting the message
NOTE: As a user, you can only delete messages that you have sent. You cannot delete an individual message that the other person in a conversation has sent to you.
Using this information, and with two options available for those occasions when you want to delete messages and /or entire conversations, you can keep your inbox as clear as you like.
