If you’ve ever compared your own Facebook feed with that of a friend, you will notice that the content that you see, and its arrangement, is completely different.

This is because Facebook is directly geared towards personalising each users’ experience, prioritising the content shared by their friends, active groups and pages, and topics they are interested in – while limiting content that the platform doesn’t think they will want to see.

Because of this, there is no longer a direct tool or function that lets users alter their feed to view the most recent posts – rather, they can keep refreshing their feed to see new content on a consistent basis or opt to exclusively view videos and reels.

How Does the Facebook Feed Work?

Each users’ Facebook feed is dictated by their interests and activity, as well as the content they interact with and the people who they engage with the most often.

And the feed isn’t solely compiled of content that you proactively chose to follow and engage with. Facebook hands a percentage of the feed over to paid ads and to suggested content, showing you the kinds of content and posts that it thinks you will like based on the algorithm and on your interests.

The most you can do to control your feed is regularly let Facebook know what you want to see more of and what you want to see less of, using the feedback options hidden behind the three dots icon at the top of each post. This kind of feedback gradually lets Facebook adjust your content settings, further filtering things you like and things you don’t.

How to View Recent Content and Posts

To view recent content and posts, the best thing to do is to set your notifications so that you receive updates when there’s a new post from one of your friends or in a group that you are part of.

You will likely find that friends’ posts are prioritised on the feed, though these are not always shared in chronological order which can make tracking updates and activity difficult.

Alternatively, you can visit friends’ pages, groups, and business feeds to stay on top of new and fresh updates. With so much content, you’ll never be bored when browsing Facebook!

Happy browsing!
