Facebook Stories are much the same as the Stories that Instagram supports.
A brief snapshot into the creator’s day, or an update that they want to share with their friends and followers, these stories are available for 24 hours from the time of posting. After this 24 hours is up, stories disappear (though can be found in an archive by the creator and original poster).
But what do you do when you keep being shown stories, posted by someone or a page that you aren’t interested in? Is there a way of blocking specific stories, without having to unfriend the poster?
3 Steps to Mute Stories From a Poster / Friend
Yes, it is very possible to mute and hide the stories shared by a friend or the original poster. Here are the steps you need to take to do so…
- Scroll along the Stories at the top of your Facebook homepage feed, until you find one that has been shared by the individual you want to mute
- Press and hold on their story box
- Select ‘Mute XX Story’ from the pop up menu at the bottom of the screen
And voila! Once you have selected this, their stories will no longer appear on your homepage.
It’s as simple as that.
