Your Facebook avatar is a cartoon version of you, designed to mimic some of your aesthetic features and bring you to life in a unique and playful way.

For Facebook users, the avatar can be shared as a reaction or as an accompaniment to a post or share – with avatars able to be personalised according to the occasion and what you want to say.

To create an avatar, you simply need to take and upload a selfie or create your avatar manually by selecting details like skin tone, hair colour, and outfit.

Best of all though is the fact that once your avatar is complete, you can edit it at any time with ease.

Here’s how…

5 Steps to Edit Your Avatar

  1. Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of your Facebook app screen
  2. Click on ‘Avatars’ from the menu blocks
  3. If you have already created an avatar, then your avatar will appear here. If you haven’t, you will be invited to take a selfie or start manually building your avatar
  4. To change or edit your avatar, select ‘Edit Avatar’ just underneath the main profile picture
  5. Go through the options relating to face shape and features, hair colour, eyebrow colour, and outfit. With so many different options and details to edit and change, you can personalise your avatar as much as you like with ease

NOTE: While a select number of details and additional features are free to access and connect with your avatar, as you start scrolling through outfits and add-ons you will find that many come at a cost.

So, before you set your heart on specific details and finishes, decide if you want to spent money on producing your avatar or stick with the free options.

Once your avatar is complete, you can use it to share all manner of updates with friends and on your profile – using it to underpin emotions and send celebratory messages.

Happy creating!
