Want to advertise a garage sale on your Facebook page?
You’re in luck! Not only does Facebook facilitate largescale advertising campaigns and the spread of big celebrations, but it also acts as the perfect platform for local updates and smaller events.
Here’s how to post about a garage sale or similar event on your Facebook profile.
3 Steps to Create a Garage Sale Event
- Click on the menu button in the bottom right hand corner of the Facebook app screen
- Select ‘Events’ from the block menu and then click on the plus sign icon in the top right of the screen
- Create your event following the guidelines on the page, including an event name, location, timings, and a relevant image
Once your event has been created, and the audience for your event has been selected and confirmed, you can choose who to send the invite to. A big part of advertising a garage sale or similar local event is to add the event to your community Facebook group page – more on this in the next section of this article!
Adding Your Event to a Local Community Page
In the part of your Event Creation journey that asks ‘Who Can See It?’ you will be invited to select the right audience for your event.
If you’re creating a local event like a garage sale, you might decide to share the event in a community group after creating it. Or why not set the audience specifically to that group?
By selecting the bottom option ‘Group’, and then choosing the right local community group, your event will be restricted and visible only to those who are members of and who interact with the group.
Of course, you might also decide to share the invite with friends and family members who aren’t in your local community but who may come to support you. However, this can be done after creating the event and sharing it directly within your group.
All that’s left, once you’ve created the event, is to finalise the plans and start thinking about logistics – sending regular reminders to potential attendees and letting them know about any changes to the plan. Happy hosting!
