Facebook is one of the best social media platforms for reminiscing and for looking back at memories, past photos, and old posts.
But with so much content and data stored on the platform and behind the scenes of every users feed, where do you start with scrolling back through old posts and finding content that you shared months if not years earlier?
In this article, we’re sharing some of the top methods for finding old posts on Facebook.
Use the Search Bar
The search bar at the top of your Facebook feed is the go-to for finding friends, groups, and pages. But did you know that when you perform a search you can actually filter the results according to where you want your search to be centred.
To find old posts, pick a keyword that may feature in the post you’re searching for and type it into the search bar. Then, using the carousel of options below the search bar, filter your results to exclusively search within your Facebook posts.
The results will show any posts that use those keywords.
NOTE: You can filter these results further by adding a ‘Date Posted’ selection tool to your search. This enables you to search by year or specific date to cut down the results list even further.
Access Your Friendship Page With Specific Friends
If you are looking for old posts between yourself and another Facebook user who you are friends with, then you can search using your Friendship page.
To find this, head to the profile page of the friend whose interactions you want to search and click on the button with three dots just underneath their profile picture.
Tap ‘See Friendship’ to open an exclusive view which is packed with all your shared experiences on Facebook. This is the best way to see all the posts, photos, and memories that the two of you have shared.
You can then scroll down through your shared posts, which include interactions between the two of you and posts that you have both been tagged in.
Use the Memories Feature
The third way to access and search through old posts on Facebook is via the memories feature.
It’s important to note that memories on Facebook are reserved for those posts and photos that were uploaded on the anniversary of the day you check. So, if you checked your Facebook memories on 1st January, you would see all other posts and photos that were uploaded on 1st January throughout your years using the platform.
This is therefore a great tool if you want to simply reminisce and look back at what you were doing at different times throughout the years – however, it is not a great option if you’re searching for specific old posts.
