With engagement one of the biggest benefits of Facebook, both for creators and brands or businesses, the ability to leave and interact with followers’ comments is a big tick for customer service.

But while comments have their undeniable benefits, from a user perspective there are ties when comments may be unavailable, hidden, or simply invisible. This is even more frustrating when you know that later comments have been posted in response to something shared earlier – but you are unable to see the original comment.

So, why is it that some comments are unavailable on unable to be seen?

In this article, we are sharing some of the most common reasons why you may find yourself unable to see specific comments on Facebook.

The Comment Has Been Deleted

The person who posted the comment may decide at a later date that what they said is overly inflammatory, inappropriate, or irrelevant.

Whatever the reason may be, one of the reasons why you may be unable to see a comment is that it has been deleted.

The Original Poster Has Hidden the Comment

Did you know that comments can be deleted by the commenter, or hidden by the user who shared the post that the comment sits under?

This means there are two different users who may have removed the comment in some way (unless of course, the commenter is the same user as the original poster!)

It is likely that the comment has been hidden by the original poster, if the user who shared the comment is themselves unsure why their comment is no longer visible.

Your Signal Is Poor

If you are trying to access or use Facebook in an area of poor signal, you will likely find that certain features do not load properly.

Comments are something that require adequate signal to load – otherwise you will find yourself unable to track the reactions to the original post.

If you are struggling to gain enough connection to load all the comments, try connecting to a different WiFi or resorting to 4G.

You Have Blocked the Commenter (or Vice Versa)

If it is one specific comment that you can’t see under a post, it may be that the commenter is someone who you have blocked – or someone who has blocked you.

If this is the case then you will simply not be able to see their interaction with the post, as part of the blocking action.

Your App Is Outdated

Facebook is one of those social platforms that constantly announces new updates. While it is not always necessary to follow every new app release and update, you will find that once a certain number of updates have launched, your older version of the app will start to slow down.

This occurs as new features outweigh the old ones, and old features stop being supported properly by Facebook.

This is why staying on top of app updates is so important.

Can You See Hidden Comments?

Whether or not you can see hidden or inaccessible comments will depend on the reason behind the comment being hidden from you.

In some cases, you can update your app or better your connection and easily access all the comments under a post. However, if the comment has been deleted, hidden, or was shared by someone who you have blocked, then you probably won’t know what the comment says.

In these cases, try viewing the comments from another users account, or resign yourself to guessing what the comment may have said!
