The Facebook Memories feature is a very popular part of the platform, that lets users look back on posts, photos, and updates that they shared on that day in previous years.
Your memories on Facebook change every day and are always reserved purely for those posts and updates that you shared on the platform exactly one or more years ago.
So, how do you check your Memories and how do you go about sharing any Memories that you want to bring back to the surface on your current Facebook profile?
How to Find Memories
The Memories content section on your Facebook profile can be found via the Menu button in the bottom right hand corner of your screen.
Select this, then click on the ‘Memories’ content block on your main menu screen. If you can’t see it in the eight visible blocks, tap on ‘See More’ to open the full menu.
Inside the Memories block, you will see all your Facebook memories in date order, listing the most recent annual memories relating to that day at the top. Scrolling down will carry you further back in time, to posts shared on the same date but in previous years.
3 Steps to Share Memories on Facebook
1. Once you’ve followed the above steps to navigate to your Memories page, you have the option to share your favourites with your current Facebook community and network. Find the memory that you want to share.
2. Select either the ‘Share’ button or the ‘Send’ button under the post, depending on how you want to share the memory and who you want to share it with.
NOTE: Opting for ‘Send’ will enable you to send the memory in a private or direct chat via Messenger. Meanwhile, selecting ‘Share’ will let you create a post out of the memory.
3. Add a caption or message to share with your memory.
Once shared, you will notice that the original content appears with your memory, under a clear heading defining how long ago the original post was shared.
This is a really fun and very engaging way of using old content to keep your current audience active on your Facebook! Plus, you never know which memories and long forgotten celebrations will be pulled out via the Memories feature!
