Have you ever sent a message on Facebook and then re-read it, only to find that you missed a word or that the message you sent makes no sense?
If so, then this article is for you.
On Facebook Messenger, you can unsend a message that has been received and read by the recipient, as well as a message that they haven’t seen yet.
Of course, a message that you delete once it has been read cannot be unread – however, by unsending it you can remove the written proof on your device. This doesn’t mean the recipient doesn’t have a screenshot of the message stored, but it does remove the message from the Messenger app.
Here’s the quick and easy process that you need to follow to delete any message on Facebook – whether its been received and read or not.
3 Steps to Unsend a Message
- Head into your Messenger app and find the message stream that you want to delete a message from
- Press and hold on the message that you want to unsend
- Select the red ‘Unsend’ option from the pop up menu that appears
If the message hasn’t been read yet, you will find that this ‘Unsend’ option is hidden behind the ‘More’ button. This is because, when the message is new and unread, there is another option to ‘Edit’ it and fix it before the recipient sees it.
But if you still want to unsend it completely, you can do so using the red ‘Unsend’ option listed above.
We hope this helps!
